It's that magical time for the Field of Dreams game in Dyersville, Iowa. Yes, it's a movie, and yes, it's a real place.

The Des Moines Register will be bringing you live updates throughout the Field of Dreams game on Thursday, Aug. 11.

The Field of Dreams game is set for a 6:15 p.m. CT first pitch on Thursday. Here's how you can watch:

Who performed the national anthem at the Field of Dreams game?

Country music singer Jessie James Decker was announced as the singer of the national anthem before Thursday's game.

Who threw out the first pitch at the Field of Dreams game?

Chicago Cubs pitching legend and 1971 Cy Young Award winner Fergie Jenkins threw out the first pitch.

Cincinnati Reds great Johnny Bench caught the pitch at the plate.

A Harry Caray hologram led the crowd through "Take Me Out to the Ballgame"

The iconic Cubs broadcaster, who died in 1998, returned in the form of a hologram to guide the fans through the traditional rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh-inning stretch.

'Field of Dreams' movie star Kevin Costner honors the late Ray Liotta

Before the Field of Dreams game Thursday, FOX and the MLB aired a tribute video of actor Ray Liotta, voiced by co-star Kevin Costner.

Is the Field of Dreams corn real? How is it maintained?

Having an MLB game in the middle of a cornfield is no easy feat.

Brothers Andy and Adam Rahe have been farming the land for years.

"We take a lot of pride in all our farming," Andy said. "But we take a little extra pride here too."

Who owned the Field of Dreams farm?

While the site was sold and is now owned by a company called Go the Distance, the farm was originally owned by the Lansing family.

“It’s more Lansing family farm to us than ‘Field of Dreams,’” Becky Lansing said.

What's the schedule for the Field of Dreams game?

As with any major sporting event, there's more to the Field of Dreams game than just the game itself.

Between the anticipated tribute to the late Ray Liotta, a concert by country music artist Walker Hayes and more, there's plenty happening in Dyersville this week besides baseball.

How do the Cubs and Reds get to the Field of Dreams stadium?

Playing in rural Iowa makes travel a bit unusual compared to most MLB ballparks.

The teams will fly into Dubuque on the day of the game before getting a police escort to the stadium.

What do the Field of Dreams game uniforms look like?

With a nod to the 1919 season that is integral to the plot of the movie, both teams will have throwback uniforms for Thursday's game.

Will Kevin Costner be at the 2022 Field of Dreams game?

Actor Kevin Costner, who starred in the 1989 film, made a dramatic entrance just before first pitch at last year's Field of Dreams game. He grabbed a microphone and addressed the crowd.

"Thirty years ago, on the other side of that corn, we filmed a movie that stood the test of time," Costner added. "Tonight, thanks to that enduring impact that little movie had, it's allowed us to come here again. But now, we're on a field that Major League Baseball made."

Costner, however, reportedly won't be in attendance at this year's event.

Who is 'Shoeless' Joe Jackson?

Joe Jackson, a star outfielder for the 1919 Chicago White Sox, was one of eight players implicated in the Black Sox scandal.

The "Field of Dreams" movie focuses in part on Jackson and the other 1919 White Sox players who were banished from Major League Baseball. Ray Liotta starred as Jackson in the film.

Can I get autographs at the Field of Dreams game?

If you're hoping to get a signature from your favorite player before Thursday's game, we've got you covered. 

Even if you're one of the lucky winners of the lottery and have a ticket to the game, an autograph isn't assured. But a few tips can help your chances.

Will there be a Field of Dreams game in 2023?

As reported Wednesday by the Register's Tommy Birch, there will not be a Field of Dreams game in 2023. Construction plans at the movie site were cited as the reason.

"It's a lot going on," said Frank Thomas, a former MLB player who is part of the new ownership group that owns and operates the "Field of Dreams" movie site. "They don't want to come back if the stadium's not prepared."
