Enough 2′s for you? Where will you be at 2:22 p.m. as people celebrate today’s rare palindrome day? Today is Feb. 22, 2022, or, 2/22/22, a day filled with all twos with an added bonus of falling on a Tuesday, the second day of the week.
A palindrome is defined as something which can be read the same way both backward and forward, like today’s date or words like racecar.
Of course, it depends on what format you write your dates in. Not every country does it the same. But here in the U.S., many people use the month/day/year format of m/dd/yy (2/22/22).
As an added bonus, each day this week, through the end of the month is a palindrome in the m/dd/yy format:
- Feb. 21, 2022 (2-21-22)
- Feb. 22, 2022 (2-22-22)
- Feb. 23, 2022 (2-23-22)
- Feb. 24, 2022 (2-24-22)
- Feb. 25, 2022 (2-25-22)
- Feb. 26, 2022 (2-26-22)
- Feb. 27, 2022 (2-27-22)
- Feb. 28, 2022 (2-28-22)
While a day like today is very rare, a palindrome week in certain formats is not. According to TimeandDate.com, every year since 2011 has had 10 consecutive palindrome days in the m/dd/yy format.
If anyone can appreciate a good palindrome date, it’s yours truly, being born on 7/7/77, a palindrome date which happened just once every 11 years last century with the last ones being on 8/8/88 and 9/9/99.
