The Powerball jackpot for Saturday’s lottery drawing has jumped to an estimated $148 million with a cash option of $83.1 million.
The winning numbers were 18, 27, 49, 65 and 69. The Powerball was 9, with a Power Play of 2X.
While no one across the country hit Wednesday’s $134.2 million jackpot, seven second-prize tickets matching five numbers but not the Powerball were sold nationally.
Tickets sold in Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts and New York are worth $1 million each. A ticket bought in Tennessee is valued at $2 million because it was bought with the Power Play option for an extra $1.
A ticket purchased in California is worth $2,595,142. California lottery prizes vary depending on ticket sales and number of winners. They differ from the fixed second prizes offered in other participating states.
In New Jersey, a third-prize, $50,000 ticket was bought at ShopRite on Prospect Avenue in West Orange. It matched four numbers plus the Powerball.
Wednesday’s winning numbers were: 7, 8, 19, 24 and 28. The Powerball drawn was 1 with a Power Play of 2X.
In addition, no one won the secondary, $10 million Double Play drawing on Wednesday. The winning numbers were: 7, 15, 21, 41 and 56. The Double Play Ball drawn was 16.
The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are 292,201,388 to 1. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to match five numbers and win at least $1 million, while the odds are 913,129 to 1 of winning the third prize of at least $50,000.
Powerball is played on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
New Jersey Lottery offices in Lawrence are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. if players prefer to drop off claims and validate winning tickets in person. Claims can be left in a secure drop box at lottery headquarters. That option applies to prizes worth more than $599.50.
If a player wins a prize of $25,000 or more (or otherwise feels more comfortable submitting claims in person) appointments can be made to meet with lottery representatives in person by calling 1-800-222-0996.
