One of the most exciting events prior to the beginning of the annual Masters tournament is the Par 3 Contest. After being held off the schedule for the last two years, it makes its return on Wednesday at the legendary Augusta National.
The event takes place at the traditional nine-hole, par-27 course that is located on the northeast portion of the grounds. This will be the first time the event has been held since 2019, with it being left out the last two years due to the pandemic.

It is always a fun and relaxing day on the course, as the best golfers in the world enjoy themselves the day before getting serious for the acutal tournament. Family members, significant others and more have caddied for some of the game’s greats, including some even getting a stroke or two in the event.
Everyone gets a kick out of when caddies step up to the tee box. None more so when G.T. Nicklaus, the grandson of the legendary Jack Nicklaus, nailed a hole-in-one back during the 2018 contest.
There have been a total of 94 hole-in-ones hit since the events inception back in 1960, with a record nine recorded in 2016. Also, eight golfers have on the Par 3 Contest twice, with Irishman Pádraig Harrington winning it on three ocassions.
In all, 11 Masters champions have also won the Par 3 Contest, though no one has ever achieved both feats in the same year.
