Morning Wordlers! It's a new day and there's a spicy new guessing game to tickle your brain. We've come up with a few hints and tips to help you along if you get stuck, so read on for tasty clues (and, eventually, the answer).

If you prefer to just find out the solution, you can scroll to the bottom of this article for April 28's Wordle answer. But if you prefer to work through it yourself, keep reading for some clues, tips, and strategies to help you out.

Engineer Josh Wardle originally created Wordle as a gift for his partner, but the word guessing game quickly spread around the world. Now thousands of players across the globe play Wordle each day, and it was purchased by the New York Times earlier this year.

Fans have also created numerous clones and riffs on Wordle, such as addictive music identification game Heardle, the battle royale format Squabble, and variations like Dordle and Quordle that have you trying to guess multiple words at once. Wordle has also become unexpected content for livestreamers, with TikTok creators broadcasting themselves playing.

Not the day you're after? Here's the Wordle answer for April 27.

What's the best Wordle starting word?

In the strictest sense, the "best" starting word is that day's answer. But if you're not aspiring to 1/6 every day, we have plenty of ideas to help you formulate a more strategic approach. One tip is to pick a word that includes at least two different vowels, plus some common consonants such as S, T, R, or N.

Dig into the Wordle archive

Wordle refreshes every day. But if you want more or feel like a bit of practice time, the entire archive of past puzzles is available for you to play whenever you want.

Is Wordle getting harder?

Wordle isn't getting any harder, despite how it might feel on certain days! However, Wordle does have a Hard Mode you can switch on if you're craving more of a challenge.

Why are there two different Wordle answers some days?

Occasionally the Wordle gods will accept two different answers on a single day, defying the accepted norm of one correct solution per day. This anomaly is due to changes the New York Times made to Wordle after it acquired the puzzle game earlier this year.
