The 2022 Super Bowl is nearly upon us!

The Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams both punched their tickets to Super Bowl LVI — but that ticket doesn't include a long journey for the Rams. L.A. will effectively host the Bengals with the game hosted at SoFi Stadium (despite the AFC technically playing the role of the Super Bowl home team this season).

After initial movement shifted the spread from Rams -3.5 to -4.5 and the over/under from 49.5 to as high as 50 to now as low as 48, Super Bowl odds have settled in within a half-point across the market (compare real-time odds at various sportsbooks here).

This will be the Rams' second Super Bowl appearance of the Sean McVay era — but this time they'll have Matthew Stafford under center instead of the since-traded Jared Goff — while it's the Bengals' first trip since the 1988 season. In this battle of two No. 1 overall picks at quarterback — Stafford was selected first overall in 2009 while Joe Burrow was taken first in the 2020 NFL Draft — will the young blood prevail or is it finally Stafford's turn to claim a ring?

Cincinnati's playoff run has been improbable to say the least, but there is still work to be done as an underdog against Los Angeles.

2022 Super Bowl Odds Movement

  • Opening Odds: Rams -3.5 & 49.5
  • Latest Odds: Rams -4  & 48.5

Feb. 11, 10:10 a.m. ET

On the final weekday before Super Bowl weekend arrives, the Rams vs. Bengals spread is essentially L.A. -4 everywhere except for BetMGM, which is still holding onto -4.5.

At DraftKings Sportsbook, the Super Bowl over/under has not budged since early Sunday afternoon, so it'll be interesting to see how this number moves over the next two days.

Feb. 10, 10:15 a.m. ET

Over the last few days we've seen the Super Bowl spread settling in at a consensus of Bengals +4, and now even more of the stragglers have moved to that number as well.

In fact, DraftKings Sportsbook has moved to Bengals +4 at -110 for the first time since Sunday night.

Feb. 8, 9:40 a.m. ET

The Super Bowl has continued its recent march toward a consensus of Bengals +4, so much so that The Action Network's consensus spread now sits at that number.

With that said, there are still some +4.5s available at PointsBet and BetMGM for those looking to snag Cincy and the hook as of Tuesday morning.

Feb. 7, 9:50 a.m. ET

Super Bowl odds are in a similar spot as they were early last week.

Despite Rams vs. Bengals being the biggest game of the year, bettors have the luxury right now of easily finding this spread at 4 or 4.5, which is important depending which side you like.

On the other hand, the over/under is still at 48.5 and has shown very little movement over the past couple of days.

Feb. 4, 9:15 a.m. ET

The Super Bowl spread remained quiet over the past 48 or so hours, but Bengals money showed up at some spots on Thursday, motivating sportsbooks like PointsBet and FanDuel to kick this line back down to Cincinnati +4.

Still, the overwhelming majority of books are still at Rams -4.5, but don't be surprised to see more shops adjust the Rams vs. Bengals spread and/or vig heading into Pro Bowl weekend.

Feb. 2, 2:15 p.m. ET

It appears that we've reached the inevitable point where early Super Bowl betting action slows and most settle in for the long wait until next weekend's game.

The latest Rams vs. Bengals spread is still at Los Angeles -4.5 at essentially every sportsbook across the market, with the over/under at a consensus line of 48.5 as well.

Feb. 1, 8 p.m. ET

More books have moved toward a 4.5-point spread, with just a few keeping the Rams at -4 (compare real-time NFL odds here). The total has continued to shift between 48 and 48.5 depending on the book. Feb. 1, 10 a.m. ET

The Super Bowl spread continues to position the Rams between 4- and 4.5-point favorites with the over/under settling in the 48-48.5 range. You can compare real-time Super Bowl odds across multiple books at anytime here.

Jan. 31, 8 p.m. ET

Sportsbooks have become more split, with BetMGM and Caesars joining DraftKings in placing the Rams as a 4.5-point favorite, while FanDuel, PointsBet, SugarHouse, Bet365, Unibet and other books remain at Rams -4.

We'll continue monitoring line movement see where this spread settles.

Jan. 31, 2:30 p.m. ET

Under action continues to influence Super Bowl odds on Monday, kicking the Rams vs. Bengals total down another half-point to a consensus line of 48.5.

It'll be interesting to monitor whether this continues or if the under movement stalls out going forward.

Jan. 31, 10:37 a.m. ET

Rams vs. Bengals under money has shown up on Monday morning, knocking down the Super Bowl total from 49.5 to 49 at most shops across the market.

Still, there are some holdouts, like PointsBet, still hanging 49.5.

Jan. 31, 7:30 a.m. ET

As the sun rises on Monday morning the most interesting Super Bowl odds storyline doesn't necessarily relate to the movement we've seen over the past 10 or so hours, but the variance across the market.

The majority of shops have settled in at Rams -4, however, DraftKings is up to -4.5 while BetMGM is lagging behind at -3.5.

From 2003-20, 5.01% of all NFL games finished with a margin of victory of exactly four points, so if you're already prepared to make a bet on Super Bowl 56, be sure to lay the 3.5 that's currently available at BetMGM if you like the Rams. On the other hand, if you prefer Cincy and the points head over the DraftKings and lock in +4.5.

Super Bowl Betting Advice

Sean Koerner: I like the Bengals +4, but the Rams quickly getting bet up from -3.5 to -4 could have been due to sharp action, so I’m going to wait before betting the spread.

Both teams' starting tight ends — C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Higbee — were injured on Sunday and their statuses are up in the air. Regardless, I'll want to analyze this matchup more before locking any bets in.

As of now, I don’t think the Rams will move down to -3, hence why I think I can wait.

I’m projecting the total at 48, so I like the under at 50. However, it’s the Super Bowl, so we are going to see a ton of public action on the over. I’m willing to wait and lock in the under if/when the line gets up to 51.5 since 51 is a key number (check real-time NFL odds here).

How Rams Reached Super Bowl LVI

  • NFC Championship: 20-17 win over No. 6 49ers
  • Divisional Round: 30-27 win over No. 2 Bucs
  • Wild Card: 34-11 win over No. 5 Cardinals
  • Regular Season Record: 12-5

Avery Yang: There are few teams in the NFL with more upside than the Rams. This team is all in, with stars at half their positions — and the lack of draft capital to show for it.

But Los Angeles had some problems in the regular season, especially offensively. Matthew Stafford has had a good year, sure, but he has seen more than his fair share of pick-sixes and often seems to put this team into precarious positions. Can the Rams' impressive defense and other offensive fire power take them all the way? That's a question for Super Bowl LVI.

How Bengals Reached Super Bowl LVI

  • AFC Championship: 27-24 OT win over No. 2 Chiefs
  • Divisional Round: 19-16 win over No. 1 Titans
  • Wild Card: 26-19 win over No. 5 Raiders
  • Regular Season Record: 10-7

Tommy Stokke: In Joe Burrow's first full season as an NFL starter, he has looked exactly like the talent prognosticators had predicted he would be when he was the No. 1 overall pick out of LSU in 2020.

Burrow and former college teammate Ja'Marr Chase have put together one of the most explosive passing attacks in the NFL just two years after the Bengals finished 2-14.

This team wasn't the most consistent during the regular season — losses to the Bears and Jets indicated as much — but they peaked at the right time with three straight wins to close out the season, capped off by a dominant Burrow display in a win over the Chiefs in Week 17 that rolled them nicely into the playoffs.
