Excelent car
Incredible capable 4x4, one of the best SUVs that can face most of 4WD trails and back roads without any extra equipment. It's a very comfortable car and for it's size, the Diesel version is very economic, it also has a large fuel tank (93L), what gives a great autonomy. It's very powerful too, with the turbo. Even versions from 2013 have better and more electronics than many cars in Australia today. The only downside is the lack of spare parts and aftermarket in Australia. In US is very easy to find anything you want or need, over here it's c... Read moreompletely different. The WK and WK2 are the most easy to see in Australia, the latest model will take sometime to be more common as it doesn't offer the same flexibility in terms of suspension than the previous and also it is available only for petrol fuel. I drive this car every day and have fitted 31" tires on it without need to change anything.
Not a knocker but beware servicing cost 8 speed auto
Ive had the car from new without any issues or costs besides normal maintence costs. Have owned a second car so Jeep has low 75,000 km. Automatic service advise was controversial but decided to play it safe. Now bare in mind this car has been looked after and would be lucky to have towed 10% of its life could have easily left it. Oil appeared to have discolored quite badly and I would assess as somewhat burnt so definitely needed changing. You need to change the filter at the change period also which in this instance cost $850.Quite a level o... Read moref work is involved and the pan relaced as it is synthetic or plastic so it is advisable. Gear change was/is still perfect. Technicians who carried out the work also noted dye was noted as coming from air conditioning pipe so that is now on order. My only experience up until now was limited to a minor oil leak from the sump plug which was presumably overtighten by the service agents. A new sump plug was needed with the local agents charging me $92 just for the part and probably some freight.
Jeep do not stand by their product with known defects and deal with vulnerable customers in an appalling manner
My parents who are in their 80s have a 2015 Jeep Laredo and the engine is faulty with a known defect for which cars have been recalled and replaced in the US. However nothing has been done by Jeep in Australia. A complaint has been lodged but nobody has contacted my elderly parents and the car is not able to be driven and has been sitting in the Jeep dealership. They have not been offered any alternative transport and are now being told they need to pay $2,000 just for jeep to ‘diagnose’ the problem when an independent mechanic has already prov... Read moreided them with the diagnosis. Jeep are clearly not willing to stand by their highly defective product and do not treat vulnerable elderly customers with the respect and dignity they deserve. This Jeep should be recalled and paid for as is being done in the US but instead there has been zero action and Jeep are sitting on their hands while a couple of elderly people no longer have a car. Despicable and appalling behaviour that Jeep should be extremely ashamed of. Nobody should buy Jeep vehicles if this is how they behave towards customers.Veteran
I was not eligible for Veterans discount You have to be a retired veteran I was drafted in 1968 and spent 13 months overseas and not eligible I think all Veterans should get it it. Is a Chrysler discount Show detailsGreat car when it's going!
Bought new in 2012 for a top end trip pulling a camper trailer. Performed brilliantly. Still own the car 9 years and 220,000 kms later. Always serviced on time by qualified mechanics. Good points include great car to drive and very comfortable, good fuel consumption of around 8l/100k on freeways and long range between fills of upto 1200km, 3500kg towing and good value at purchase time. Frustrating problems/issues include 10,000 km expensive service interval, countless recalls - some are recalls on recalls, outrageously priced spare parts eg $4,... Read more300 for tail shaft, flaky electrics and wiring and generally somewhat non-standard in Australia. Sounds like these may have largely been fixed in later models. Despite all this I still like the car. Probably would not buy another one though.Buy It At Your Own Peril
Bought the car in 2012 and had a plethora of electrical and mechanical faults that Jeep dealers and Fiat Chrysler Australia turned a blind eye on.Every 2 months I was literally in the garage soon after the warranty ran out and to cut the long story short, the transmission eventually gave up the ghost. Maughan Thiem in Mount Barker, SA took more than a week to try and fix it but made a mess of it until I was left marooned without any offers of help but to get rid of the car, on advice of another honest Jeep dealer (to avoid any further costs a... Given the above, I would say to others: 'Enjoy the romance whilst in its infancy but be warned it wont last long when it leaves you out of pocket and out of love', (...of the badge I have been forced to abhor)!

Very pleased with most aspects. Great economy & for towing 3500kg
I researched all 4x4 wagons with capacity to tow 3200kg plus. Read many reviews. Test drove various brands. Jeep had a poor reputation which put me off.. until realising that over 3 years ago (in 2018, so 6 yrs ago now) they totally lifted their game, replaced their bad Australian CEO, fixed the lack of spare parts and waiting time issues (they have a huge spares warehouse in Melbourne) and provide a "There and Back' Guarantee. 2 friends have Jeep Grand Cherokees and "love" them. There are quite a few on the roads down here in Victoria.... Read more My fears were allayed... I bought a new Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo diesel 2017 MY18. Drive it about 3x a week in a balance of longer Fwy trips of several hours, and about town. Very occasional towing of wide horse float. Tows extremely well - can't fault it. Cross-winds are typically not felt. Interior feels ergonomically good. Supportive seats. Like the large windscreen and vision from drivers position, placement of controls etc. Surprisingly good fuel economy! My 4x4 of choice for looks, practicality and comfort in this price range. Doesn't feel like a huge wagon the way a Toyota Landcruiser does. Softer ride and nicer interior than the more truck-like Isuzu Mux. The base model Laredo has many inclusions which are only available as 'add on' options for other brands. Higher walled tyres make for a more comfy ride. I didn't need nor want the additional options of the 'Driver assist' etc in the up-spec'd Limited version. Specifically wanted cloth seats as I disliked the leather (cold in winter, hot and stick to it in summer) in my previous vehicle. A few minor dislikes: Top front of door frame interferes slightly with entry, have to duck my head. Seems to be a common issue on a few SUVs. The park foot brake at left of footwell interferes slightly with left foot position. I'd certainly recommend this vehicle for towing, comfort and economy. And Jeep servicing has been excellent to date.Dont buy Jeep Grand cherokee
Jeeps built is quite cheap i think. Since new multimedia freezes on and off. Never fixed despite of every servicing needed at Chullora Hartland..Gear knobs skin/ paint came off but wasn't a big deal. Hate the sqeeky sound of the brake since new and despite of regular servicing.Glove box is smaller than fiat's little car.
Never again Jeep. Show details
where do i start? Love to hate this car My15 almost had it 4 years
Car is fully serviced all going well until 57k to 65k where 4 failures 3 major components. first was the radiator with the water pump. then the turbo cooling pipe split. then the thermostat was jamming so was replaced. fast forward to 105k thermostat failure again followed by water pump failure again. now followed by a blockage in the header tank then a core leak in the radiator around 120k when i sent it to get fixed the coolant was oilily so the oil cooler had failed so the clean out and fix of both around 3k paid it to get back on the road. 125 k i now have a leak behind the water pump which just dumped all my coolant on the ground when i was filling up my car at a fuel station. now at a jeep dealer awaiting approval for a new engine. Show detailscustomer service attitude
extremely rude and no customer service at Jeep Osborne Park Perth Australia. I sit down for 2 hours waiting for someone to tell me what the diagnoses of the ( ESC )Traction control light is that's lit up on my dash. i approach and they tell me part has been ordered. So why am i sitting there for 2 hours ? It was the brake booster which needs to be replaced and the total would be with the $159-50 diagnostic $1100. The brake booster costs $591. They said we need you to sign and put your credit card details on this form because people tend to order... Read more parts and don't show up to collect so we are stuck with that part. Is that even legal for them to charge someone's card without the part being collected ? I signed, drove away and literally 15 minutes later i called and told them to cancel as i go somewhere else. They said sorry, part ordered and you signed for it. I kicked up a fuss and told them i don't want the part anymore so cancel it. They said sorry we can't,it's been ordered. I said it literally has been ordered 1 hour ago after you made me sit there for 2 hours, nobody even approached me to follow up as to what's going on. The guy said i will hand you to my manager. He forgot to put me on hold so i heard what he said " I can't take this guy anymore, can you handle it " The manager Mark who has either a scottish or english accent answered. I told him your staff member needs to be carefull what he says because i heard him. That's not customer service. He didn't even aplogise for that and didn't acknowledge me.I explained the situation to him and he gave me the same answer. Sorry but part has been ordered and you signed for it. He said it was explained to me when i signed. I said no,your employee told me that i have to sign because people order parts, they arrive and customers don't turn up to collect. I just simply want to cancel my order which hasn't been shipped yet. I told him that are you telling me that the part is already being shipped over now from east coast ? then i can understand but you guy's ordered the part like 1 hour ago. I don't need it,your to expensive and i am going somewhere else. He replied that i signed and i have to pay so i told him that i will contact my bank and put a stop payment on the card. He said you really going to go thru that much trouble to stop payment so i said yes. He said i will call you soon and hung up. He called me back 15 minutes later and said " next time you need any parts from us for your car, don't come to us, your not welcome and we have your details. I was so shocked to hear this from Jeep Osborne Park Perth Service desk Manager. If that's how they treat there customers, they shouldn't be employed. I would not recommend anyone going there.Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Joy to drive, minor annoyances
Amazing vehicle with some small niggling faults. A lot of luxury for the price, electric windows, keyless start, premium audio, heated seats, electric mirrors, reversing sensors and camera, cruise, etc. The 6 cylinder engine is silky smooth, more like a V8, and extraordinarily economical for such a large, heavy vehicle. On freeway running it averages just under 9 litres/100km and in heavy stop start city commuting between 13 and 14 litres/100km. In sport mode especially the Jeep is very sprightly if you put the foot down and even uphill overtak... Read moreing is effortless. The auto gear box is a big contributer to this, shifting up and down smoothly with only rare hesitations. Paddle shifters are a nice touch but I rarely use them as the auto box works beautifully. Interior is very spacious compared to its competition, especially the rear bench, which unlike others comfortably seats large adults and not just kids. Interior fit and finish is a bit plastics and cheap looking. Especially the ridiculous chrome trim around the vents which is constantly reflecting into the rear view mirrors and is extremely distracting. Having the indicator stalk on the LHS instead of the usual Right is annoying as we have several cars in the family and it always takes a while to get used to it when swapping cars. Climate control is variable, it goes up and down in temperature far more than any of are other vehicles which are set and forget. Battery under the driver's seat is a real pain. Door pockets are way to small and passengers are always looking for somewhere to put there bits and bobs. Technologically the car is very sophisticated and leads to very expensive servicing if something goes wrong, especially if you take it to a Jeep dealer. The Jeep is a joy to drive apart from the few niggling issues and expensive repairs.Jeep... title is enough
Spacious inside. Nice interiors. More powerful engine. Quite cockpit. My wife loves driving it. Good ground clearance. Use Jeep everyday. No issues at all. Customer service is very professional. Very comfy for long drives. Show detailsExtremely good value for money
I have now had 4 jeeps (3 toyotas etc) and cannot fault this car. I have a 2017 Laredo optioned with factory Leather, Sunroof and off road Adventure 2 package. The car has never missed a beat (35,000ks) and even if it does it has 5 years warranty. It tows my 2.5t Van like its not there, super comfortable, and fuel economy is very very good.. When I looked around NOTHING came close for 60k. The only complaints I read are either older models or poor service from Jeep and FCA which is a shame because it lets down such a good car. The only reason I... Read more have had 4 of them is everytime I look around I just cant tick as many boxes as the Jeep does and for the price its hard to go past... Then when you factor in that 4 ive owned have never had one single warranty claim!! whay wouldnt you. Best thing you can do is NOT listen to the so called experts who have never actually owned one and go drive one, or ask and actual owner when you spot one. You will love it.2017 Laredo 4x4 & 4x2
We have two Jeep Grand Cherokees, one 4WD and one 2WD, both excellent cars and amazing value for what you get. Lots of goodies, both with sat nav & leather due to offers at the time. Paid $51k for the 4x4 and $34k for the 4x2 (ex demo with a few thousand km on the clock). We are part of a group online and it’s clear that Jeep sell the occasional lemon (which happens with all manufacturers) and has a bad history. But I feel that they’ve got it right with the Jeep GC now and it’s one of the best value SUVs in Australia. I suspect there are some... Read more
trade agreements in place because in the UK the same models are much more expensive. So in 12 months and a combined 35,000km on the clock with some long interstate drives and everyday use they have been running perfectly. The 5 year warranty they now offer probably reflects the improved reliability. The only comment is the paintwork doesn’t seem amazing, it easily chips and you can see overspray when you look for it. Perhaps the ceramic coating would have been a good option for us.Questions & Answers
when towing a caravan what mode do you use and what about the Crouse Control can you use it am in Australia
Hi Norman T I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee LTD diesel with 8 speed g/box, and tow a 3tonne + van and when on open road use my cruise control and travel at 90km/hr and find both car and van travel ... Read more
very well and have also levellers fitted. I travel at this speed so that if traffic wish to pass, they do not require excessive speed to pass my long car and van. The cars transmission automatically selects the appropriate gear on the fly, 8-7- etc when on level roads or up and down small undulations with me being able to assess if I am comfortable with that current situation at that time. Obviously, if there were strong crosswinds etc, I would not use cruise if car and van were being adversely affected. This works for me and I do not get as mentally tired. Van and car are fitted also with stability control. Hope this assessment helps. PS: The Jeep will change down in cruise to assist braking effect within reason to hold the set speed(within reason)Looking at may be buying a 2015 Grand Cherokee petrol what is your thoughts on towing a caravan with this
If u want power than srt models(v8 engine) would be good.
3.5 tonne is recommended for v6 I think.
