My second one so I obviously like it
Purchased my Jeep GC Trailhawk second hand to replace my 10 year old Laredo. See other review. I wanted the 8 speed this time and I’ve always wanted a Trailhawk model. It is a burger with the lot, what more can you say. My favourite features are the infotainment system and the brilliant seats. The adaptive cruise and chilled centre console is also great. I purchased it as a tow vehicle for a 2.5t caravan and we’ve just towed over 7500 kms in the last 2 months with only one minor issue, I seem to have corrected myself. We would have been all up... Read more 5.3 tonne. The auto is sometimes a bit late changing down in towing situations uphill so I change down manually a lot more with the steering paddle controls. It is a pleasure to drive overall, they do get a bit hot on long uphill towing, but having owned 2 in a row now that is just how they are. This is my second one so I do recommend. They are also a lot better off-road than you would expect.Excelent car
Incredible capable 4x4, one of the best SUVs that can face most of 4WD trails and back roads without any extra equipment. It's a very comfortable car and for it's size, the Diesel version is very economic, it also has a large fuel tank (93L), what gives a great autonomy. It's very powerful too, with the turbo. Even versions from 2013 have better and more electronics than many cars in Australia today. The only downside is the lack of spare parts and aftermarket in Australia. In US is very easy to find anything you want or need, over here it's c... Read moreompletely different. The WK and WK2 are the most easy to see in Australia, the latest model will take sometime to be more common as it doesn't offer the same flexibility in terms of suspension than the previous and also it is available only for petrol fuel. I drive this car every day and have fitted 31" tires on it without need to change anything.
Disposed of Jeep Grand Cherokee, Limited, 3 litre diesel due to inadequate product support experienced
We disposed of the vehicle, at a low price, while still under manufacturer's warranty, with only very low kilometres travelled, due to our experience, consequential opinion and our ongoing concerns that product support from Jeep/Stellantis Australia was woefully inadequate in our case. We lost confidence in using the vehicle for its intended purpose. Serious warranty issues required multiple rectification attempts at different dealerships, in different States, over a long period of time. The "Jeep Assist" support process was unhelpful to us.... Read more Jeep's recall process was also inadequate in our opinion with a serious recall not notified in Australia until almost one year after the same recall was notified in North America. Jeep/Stellantis Australia, at a high level, would not take any responsibility for the outcome of our extremely bad ownership experience and refused access for us to directly discuss our experience with its Australian CEO. We have over 50 years of car ownership experience and consider this the worst experience of all and consequently would not recommend the purchase of a new Jeep vehicle. Not a knocker but beware servicing cost 8 speed auto
Ive had the car from new without any issues or costs besides normal maintence costs. Have owned a second car so Jeep has low 75,000 km. Automatic service advise was controversial but decided to play it safe. Now bare in mind this car has been looked after and would be lucky to have towed 10% of its life could have easily left it. Oil appeared to have discolored quite badly and I would assess as somewhat burnt so definitely needed changing. You need to change the filter at the change period also which in this instance cost $850.Quite a level o... Technicians who carried out the work also noted dye was noted as coming from air conditioning pipe so that is now on order. My only experience up until now was limited to a minor oil leak from the sump plug which was presumably overtighten by the service agents. A new sump plug was needed with the local agents charging me $92 just for the part and probably some freight.
Do a MDS Delete
Great fun vehicle but the 6.4ltr hemi is well known for lifter/cam failure (throwing a cylinder misfire code). Highly recommend doing a MDS delete (non MDS lifter / cam replacement) to kill off the cylinder deactivation before it becomes a problem! The last thing you want is a grinded cam lobe (metal in the oil running through the entire engine). There's plenty of YouTube videos on this subject. My parents who are in their 80s have a 2015 Jeep Laredo and the engine is faulty with a known defect for which cars have been recalled and replaced in the US. However nothing has been done by Jeep in Australia. A complaint has been lodged but nobody has contacted my elderly parents and the car is not able to be driven and has been sitting in the Jeep dealership. They have not been offered any alternative transport and are now being told they need to pay $2,000 just for jeep to ‘diagnose’ the problem when an independent mechanic has already prov... Read moreided them with the diagnosis. Jeep are clearly not willing to stand by their highly defective product and do not treat vulnerable elderly customers with the respect and dignity they deserve. This Jeep should be recalled and paid for as is being done in the US but instead there has been zero action and Jeep are sitting on their hands while a couple of elderly people no longer have a car. Despicable and appalling behaviour that Jeep should be extremely ashamed of. Nobody should buy Jeep vehicles if this is how they behave towards customers.Puts a smile on your face every time I drive it
Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is a family vehicle plenty room very combatable all the safety features you would expect from a modern car and a whopping 522KW (707 HP) motor at your control 0-100 in 3.7 sec top speed 280kmh 2.5 ton rocket your kids will never be late for school again yes very expensive on fuel tires and the initial cost but the smiles it brings are priceless Show detailsVeteran
I was not eligible for Veterans discount You have to be a retired veteran I was drafted in 1968 and spent 13 months overseas and not eligible I think all Veterans should get it it. Is a Chrysler discount Show detailsAn amazing engineering achievement
I have a 2016 SRT. It has the 8 speed automatic. The earlier ones have a 5 speed transmission. I find the foot operated parking brake cramps the drivers footwell, and I'd prefer the later PRNDL selector. Otherwise it is perfect. Fast, excellent handing, excellent brakes. Amazing in the wet.Makes me smile every time I drive it!
I ordered this car as soon as I heard it was going to be made with the 707 HP Hellcat motor. Wow, it has exceeded all of my expectations. I drive around 20,000 k's per annum and have not had any issues in the last 3+ years. No recalls no breakdowns, not the slightest hint of trouble. This is my 4th Jeep and the experience with all of them has been great.Could not recommend more highly. Show details
Great car when it's going!
Bought new in 2012 for a top end trip pulling a camper trailer. Performed brilliantly. Still own the car 9 years and 220,000 kms later. Always serviced on time by qualified mechanics. Good points include great car to drive and very comfortable, good fuel consumption of around 8l/100k on freeways and long range between fills of upto 1200km, 3500kg towing and good value at purchase time. Frustrating problems/issues include 10,000 km expensive service interval, countless recalls - some are recalls on recalls, outrageously priced spare parts eg $4,... Bought the car in 2012 and had a plethora of electrical and mechanical faults that Jeep dealers and Fiat Chrysler Australia turned a blind eye on.Every 2 months I was literally in the garage soon after the warranty ran out and to cut the long story short, the transmission eventually gave up the ghost. Maughan Thiem in Mount Barker, SA took more than a week to try and fix it but made a mess of it until I was left marooned without any offers of help but to get rid of the car, on advice of another honest Jeep dealer (to avoid any further costs a... Great car but after sales support really lets it down
About a year ago, we purchased a new Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland from the Gold Coast Jeep dealership which is part of Frizelle’s Sunshine Automotive Group. We were very happy with the vehicle and the service provided by the dealer sales team, but the after sales service support provided by the Gold Coast Jeep dealership has really let us down.
During the purchase, we advised the sales person that we were purchasing a Jeep for towing our caravan and that we were purchasing a brand new vehicle for reliability reasons because we were also dropp... Read more
ing down to one vehicle so needed the assurance of the reliability we would expect to get with the purchase of a new vehicle. The sales person assured us that in the unlikely event of a breakdown and because of our commitment to convert from another make to a Jeep, Gold Coast Jeep and Frizelle’s Sunshine would make sure that we would never be without a vehicle if the need arises. Well, what an empty promise that turned out to be! Our vehicle broke down with less than 7,500km on the clock and we were just left for 9 days with no means of transport! So what happened? On start day of our long awaited holiday, we set out towing our fully laden caravan only to break down with the engine light illuminated and fluid of some sort leaking from the underside of the vehicle. This turned out to be transmission fluid. I won’t bore everyone with the details of the totally unacceptable service provided by Jeep roadside assist and how much it cost but we didn’t think things could get any worse, that is, until we towed it to Gold Coast Jeep, it all went downhill from there. Upon arrival at the dealer with our Jeep on the back of a tow truck, we were informed that scheduled services take preference over breakdowns and that our vehicle would be attended to when a technician has a spare hour or so here and there which we find to be totally unacceptable. Despite promises made by the salesperson at the time of purchase, and taking into consideration the newness of the vehicle and the low km travelled, we were further advised that there were no loan cars available. Surely in these instances, the dealer can find a loan car somewhere, even if it’s some other make that has been traded in! It’s unfortunate that we have to resort to reviews to draw attention to our plight but having flagged our situation with everyone including Jeep Australia, FCA Group, James Frizelle Sunshine Automotive by the correct channels and by every means possible, not one response has been received to date. Gold Coast Jeep customer service has been frustrating and unsatisfactory to deal with to say the least. We took a leap of faith in choosing a Jeep as our new tow vehicle but the after sales experience so far has fallen well short of our expectations and what we believe to be good customer service. As a consequence, this will be our first and only purchase of any vehicle sold under the Frizelle Sunshine Automotive umbrella. We would encourage others to think carefully about after sales support prior to purchasing. One of best in its class

Living on the far south coast of NSW, Bega, we regularly have to head to Canberra for stuff (eg medical etc) now Canberra is usually a 3 hour drive - but not using the Jeep nav system its a 9 hour drive as it wants to send us via Sydney - this is a regular issue with the nav system and not just for this trip - recently had a contractor turn up to my place in a nice new Jeep 1 hour late, he had to ring me to get directions as the Jeep was taking he all over the place (sorry but my wife and found very amusing) - I now have a holder setup to hold a small Samsung tablet that we use with google maps and a offline system (for when there is no service) - but it does play music so thats good Show detailsQuestions & Answers
Im considering buying a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Petrol for my wife to drive & would like some feedback.
Reliability is the concern.
Hi all.
Have 2015 Jeep GC overheated, replaced thermostat. Took for test drive overheated, but when I went around a corner or braked fairly quickly temp dropped almost immediately for a little while. Took breather off lots of steam no water, but no loss of coolant except from overflow tank. Any thoughts? Could this be an air lock issue?
What is the correct max bracked towing capacity of the 3.6 petrol grand cherokee.
