In spring 2022, Apple announced several exciting upcoming products at the Peek Performance event. Here are the latest updates on some of the most highly anticipated Apple products of 2022 – and when you can expect to see them in stores.
1 – The M2 Chip
Apple’s M1 chip was a revolution in terms of performance and energy efficiency. Since its original release, it’s gone through several minor iterations – from the Pro to the Ultra variant.
In 2022, Apple will likely release its M2 chip and so complete its transition away from Intel chips in products such as the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.
2 – iPhone 14
Next up, we can look forward to four different iPhone 14 models, to be released in fall 2022. These include the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, as well as the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Max Pro. According to the latest news, there will not be a 5.4-inch Mini version.
Some of the most-anticipated features of the new iPhone include a sleek punch-hole design, as well as a titanium frame, the A16 main chip, a 5G modem, and several camera upgrades.

There are plenty of rumors around the upcoming design and features. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the new model will see a mini-LED display upgrade, like the one in the current 12.9-inch model. This would be a significant improvement in terms of contrast and color display.
Other likely upgrades include a titanium chassis, replacing the current aluminum material, as well as an M2 chip, and MagSafe compatibility.
In addition, we can look forward to features like reverse wireless charging, which would allow users to power Qi-enabled AirPods and iPhones by placing them on their iPad.

In addition, we’re likely to see a large variety of color options, with choices like pink, purple, blue, silver, yellow, and orange on the menu. This harks back to the appearance of the 24-inch iMac.
Furthermore, the new MacBook Air could adopt several features from the current MacBook Pro setup – such as mini-LED, a 1080p camera, and several USB-C and Thunderbolt ports. SD card and HDMI slots are likely to stay restricted to the MacBook Pro, though.
8 – 13-inch MacBook Pro M2
Like the MacBook Air, we can also expect a major upgrade for the MacBook Pro in 2022, starting with the inclusion of M2 chips. Plus, some rumors suggest that Apple might drop the “Pro” part of the product name and simply call it MacBook going forward.
The new MacBook Pro will probably feature a sleeker, thinner design with uniform bezels, as well as an all-back keyboard. The much-maligned Touch Bar won’t make a reappearance.
The new model probably won’t sport ProMotion or mini-LED display options, banking instead on the standard Retina display of the current 13-inch MacBook Pro.
In terms of colours, the choices are going to stay more limited than for the new MacBook Air. Users will be able to take their pick from silver and space grey.
9 – M2-powered Mac Mini
Following the launch of the Mac Mini featuring a M1 chip in 2020, Apple aficionados can expect a more powerful, M2-based version in 2022.
According to the latest intel by Jon Prosser, the Mac Mini 2022 will feature a smaller, slimmer footprint, as well as a plexiglass top and magnetic charging connector.
In terms of performance, the new Mac Mini will probably support up to 64 GB of RAM – a significant step up from the current generation’s 16 GB limit.
