‘General Hospital’ Cast Stunned by Surprise Return of Chloe Lanier as Nelle: “NO WAY”

Port Charles’ favorite antagonist is coming back. After two years, General Hospital is reviving Chloe Lanier’s character, Nelle, who we last saw plunging to her death (or so we thought). The actress will be making her short-term return to the ABC soap opera the week of Sept. 5.

In an Instagram post, Lanier teased her comeback, writing, “See ya next week @generalhospitalabc,” much to some of her fellow cast members’ surprise. Longtime General Hospital star Jon Lindstrom, who plays Kevin Collins, commented, “Wait. What?!” on the actress’ photo, while Josh Swickard, who plays Harrison Chase, wrote, “NO WAY.”

While it hasn’t been revealed exactly how Nelle is going to make her appearance, Lanier told Soap Opera Digest that it wasn’t easy getting back into character.

“I was looking at videos of Nelle online for days, like, ‘It has been two years since I had played this role. What did I even do? What were my speech patterns? How did I walk as Nelle?’ All of these things that were once so clicked-in for me, I had totally forgotten how to do, but hopefully, it translated and I was able to slip back into character the way I did it before. I’m hoping!” she said.

Lanier made her General Hospital debut in 2015 as Young Patricia Spencer in two episodes before returning the following year to play Nelle Hayes, where she stayed until 2018, the same year she won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series. The actress came back for a brief stint in 2019 and maintained a recurring status until 2020.

Lanier also acted in five episodes of the drama series, Kingdomand made appearances in singular episodes of NCIS: Hawai’i, 9-1-1and NCIS
