The Masters cut line is key to golf odds as it determines the outcomes of some head-to-head matchups, whether an outright they bet on makes it to the weekend, and of course, settles the popular cut line prop bet.

Projected cut line update

The Masters cut line for 2024 closed at +6.

There were 60 golfers at +6 or better, including legend Tiger Woods (+1) who set a Masters record by making his 24th consecutive cut at Augusta National Golf Club.

Tiger survived to play the weekend, but we said goodbye to many notable names. Zach Johnson (+7), Justin Rose (+7), Sergio Garcia (+7), Justin Thomas (+7), Viktor Hovland (+8), Jordan Spieth (+9), Bubba Watson (+10), and Dustin Johnson (+13) are a sample of the golfers who did not make the cut.

With a tremendous forecast for the weekend, the big story of Thursday and Friday was the weather. Thursday featured rain and thunderstorms, which delayed the start of Round 1. Friday was calm for the early tee times, but extremely strong winds started howling in the afternoon which made par an exceptional score on every hole for the late tee times.

When play began Thursday morning most sportsbooks closed their projected cut line at 147.5 or 148 (+4). For most of Friday's second round it was looking like the final number would be +4, but the wind blew and the bogeys piled up. Over bettors cashed their bets and raised a toast to Mother Nature on Friday evening.

Odds to make the cut

Bettors can also bet on which golfers will make the cut at a tournament. It's an extremely popular market that settles before your outright bets. During the week of the tournament, we'll have the best odds for all Masters golfers to make the cut.

Masters cut rule

The cut rule at the Masters last year was the Top 50 golfers plus ties, and the same cut rule will apply for the 2024 Masters tournament.

In 2020, the committee changed its longstanding cut rule where only the Top 50 players in the Masters field and ties advanced to Round 3 and 4. Previously, the rule stated that the Top 50 and anyone within 10 strokes of the lead made the cut.

Making changes to the cut line has been a part of the history of the Masters. The cut was first instituted in 1957 and was the Top 40 and ties until 1961. From 1962-2012, it was expanded to the Top 44 and those within 10 strokes of the leader. In 2013, it was expanded to Top 44 and those within 10 shots.
