Anticipation for the Masters is always high, but when you factor in Tiger Woods' incredible comeback to the PGA TOUR this year, the fever pitch at Augusta might've been on a new level.

The Masters is viewed by many as the best golf tournament in the world, so perhaps it's only fitting that Scottie Scheffler, the World No. 1, walks away with a dominant victory.

Outside of the 25-year-old's first major championship victory, here are seven shocking things that happened at the 86th Masters.

1. A player in Tiger Woods' threesome withdrew due to injury ... and it wasn't Tiger:

Woods has had five back surgeries, he nearly had his leg amputated 14 months ago, and he hadn't played competitive golf in over 500 days. Yet it was Louis Oosthuizen, not Tiger, who was forced to withdraw before the second round due to injury. Woods somehow made the cut after rounds of 71 and 74 in one of the more remarkable showings of perseverance the golfing world has ever seen.

2. Rory finished 2nd and only broke 71 once:

Rory McIlroy's quest for the career Grand Slam will have to wait another year, but the 32-year-old certainly leaves Augusta National as a winner in the eyes of many. After two 73s saw him sit well back of the lead, McIlroy shot a 71 in Round 3 to enter Sunday nine strokes behind Scheffler. The four-time major champ then turned in a performance for the ages, matching the final-round record at Augusta with a remarkable 8-under 64. He then capped his day with this insane hole-out from the bunker on 18.

3. Jordan Spieth missed his first Masters cut in nine starts:

The 2015 champion was victimized by No. 12 yet again, dumping two shots in the water en route to a triple-bogey 7. He came to the 18th on Friday with a chance to make the cut, but a double-bogey 6 sent him home early for the first time in his career.

4. Bubba did this:

5. Xander Schauffele made only one birdie:

Schauffele entered play with more birdies or better than anybody at Augusta over the last three years. He somehow went 34 holes before finally making one at No. 17 on Friday, his only one of the week en route to a missed cut.

6. Bryson shot 76-80 and beat only seven players:

Remember Bryson DeChambeau's now-infamous comment that his incredible length had him looking at Augusta as a par 67? After his 12-over total this year, he's now 129-over all time on that self-proclaimed target.

7. Hudson Swafford's clubhead flew off
