Will Tiger Woods make the cut at the 2022 PGA Championship?

The PGA Championship has entered Day 2. We break down where the cut line stands throughout the day and if Tiger will make the cut.

Update 7:33 p.m. With a final score of +3 on the day, Tiger Woods has made the cut at the PGA Championship. It’s his second-straight made cut in a major this year.

Update 6:05 p.m. A costly double bogey on the Par 3 11th has put Woods at +5 for the tournament. The cut line is still at +4, though there’s a small chance it could fall to +3 as conditions seem favorable for scoring as of now.

But either way, the 15-time major winner will need to find at least one birdie to play on Saturday.

Update 4:25 p.m. Things are looking good for Tiger as of now, as the cut has moved to +4, with a total of 86 golfers on the number as of now. It appears that will be the number. And Tiger has pulled back a shot today as well with a birdie on No. 5 to get to +3 thru six holes.

If he can avoid the struggles he had on the way in yesterday (yesterday the front nine of the course was his back nine), it looks like he might make the weekend.

Update 3:10 p.m. Right now the cut line is set at +3, and might move to +4 depending on how things shake out this afternoon as the course gets harder and windier.

Tiger is through his first two holes, and is +4 on the day. We’ll keep updating here.

While he hadn’t played a competitive tournament in what seemed like forever, watching Tiger Woods make the cut at the 2022 Masters Tournament was pretty incredible.

But the PGA Championship offers a tougher field than the year’s first major, and Woods has plenty of work to do once his 2:36 p.m. ET tee time begins on Friday. After the first 18 holes, Woods is at +4 following a tough string of holes to close out yesterday’s action.

What is the cut line for the 2022 PGA Championship? How is it determined?

The cut line for the PGA Championship is the low 70 scores plus ties. With 156 players starting action on Friday, about half of them will go home after today’s play. And if the cut line was determined before Friday began, the number would be +2. That means Tiger is roughly two shots behind before he begins play today.

Will Tiger Woods make the cut?

While he looked very good off the tee for long stretches yesterday, the consistency seems to be the issue for Woods. You can also see when he’s walking that his gait is still a bit off than from before his car accident. On a difficult course, it could be tough for him to find a way to the weekend.

But his ball-striking will need to be more consistent if he is to survive until Saturday. And being an afternoon tee time, where the wind-swept course will be at its most challenging, likely won’t be helpful either.
