COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football projects to have its smallest NFL Draft class in a few years, but the star power at the top still pops.
Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave at Nos. 10-11 were first Buckeye receivers to go in the first round of the same NFL Draft since Ted Ginn Jr. and Anthony Gonzalez in 2007. It marked the fifth time in six years that OSU had multiple first-round selections, with last year being the exception.
Another former OSU receiver, Jameson Williams, followed Wilson and Olave off the board, in succession.
Justin Fields became Ohio State’s 85th first-round pick last season, maintaining the all-time lead over USC (83). Drake London, selected by the Atlanta Falcons at No. 8, is the Trojans’ only projected first-round pick, so OSU should extend that lead this week.
Ohio State has not had fewer than seven draft picks since 2015, and has had nine or more selections in each of the past three drafts.
Garrett Wilson
First round, No. 10, New York Jets
Wilson was the second receiver off the board, going No. 10 to the New York Jets. That was two spots after the Atlanta Falcons selected USC’s Drake London.
