Sports. Honestly. Since 2011

10 Ohio State Players Selected in 2021 NFL Draft

Ten Ohio State players were picked in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Buckeyes are the only college football team with ten draft picks in each of the last two years.

Ohio State tied Alabama for the most draft picks in 2021. It’s no surprise that the two teams that met in the National Championship had the most talented players.

Not only did the Buckeyes see ten of their own selected, but five also signed with NFL teams as free agents. That means all 15 players who left Ohio State found a home in the NFL one way or another.

Round 1: Justin Fields, Chicago Bears (11)

The only first-rounder the Buckeyes had was Justin Fields. He fell further than he should have, but the Bears traded up to the 11th overall pick to grab him. The Bears ignored all of the falsehoods surrounding Fields, which were probably just rumors to make him drop anyways.

Round 2: Pete Werner, New Orleans Saints (60); Josh Myers, Green Bay Packers (62)

Linebacker Pete Werner had an amazing Pro Day, and the Saints went for him in round two. It was surprising that the first offensive lineman taken wasn’t Wyatt Davis, but the Packers needed to replace their Pro Bowl center, former Buckeye Corey Linsley. They must have valued Josh Myers’ experience at the position, so they took him 62nd overall.

Round 3: Wyatt Davis, Minnesota Vikings (86); Trey Sermon, San Francisco 49ers (88); Baron Browning, Denver Broncos (105)

Davis finally came off the board in the third round, and Trey Sermon did not fall far behind. Baron Browning landed with defensive mastermind Vic Fangio in Denver to help rebuild the Broncos’ defense.

Round 4: Tommy Togiai, Cleveland Browns (132)

Tommy Togiai stays in state, going up I-71 to Cleveland. The Browns lost two defensive tackles in free agency this year, so Togiai has a clear path to getting some playing time, despite being a Day 3 pick.

Round 5: Luke Farrell, Jacksonville Jaguars (145); Shaun Wade, Baltimore Ravens (160)

Urban Meyer only selected one of his former recruits, tight end, Luke Farrell. Shaun Wade had a poor season in 2020 after switching positions and playing through a foot injury. He declared as a junior, and if he knew he would fall to the fifth round he might have stayed for another year.

Round 7: Jonathon Cooper, Denver Broncos (239)

Jonathon Cooper will join Browning on the Broncos defense, which is known for their defensive line.

Undrafted Free Agents: Tuf Borland, Minnesota Vikings; Justin Hilliard, San Francisco 49ers; Jake Hausmann, Detroit Lions; Blake Haubeil, Tennessee Titans; P Drue Chrisman, Cincinnati Bengals
