Ohio State football undrafted free agent tracker

The 2021 NFL draft is over and many former Ohio State Buckeyes have heard their names called, but a few did not and had to wait around for their agents to take phone calls to go the undrafted free agent route.

It is not necessarily a career death sentence to go undrafted. Former Buckeyes J.T. Barrett, Austin Mack, and Binjimen Victor all went undrafted and found opportunities in various camps. More than a few undrafted prospects have still made a good living and the following are a few more hoping to get a longer look.

Here is a list of all former Ohio State players (even if eventually to other teams) and where they landed as undrafted free agents after all the smoke cleared on the 2021 NFL draft.

Justin Hilliard, Linebacker

Signed by the San Francisco 49ers

Hilliard is another prospect viewed as a potential sixth-round target, but again, surprisingly, he went undrafted after a dominant performance against powerhouse Clemson. Hilliard showed his worth in the College Football Playoffs and tallied eight tackles against Clemson.

Tuf Borland, Linebacker

Signed by the Minnesota Vikings

The fact Tuf Borland went undrafted is probably surprising to very few people; he did not have the best pro day. Borland was always the tough and stout clean-up guy in the Ohio State defense, but being a limited athlete hurts draft stock.

Blake Haubeil, Kicker

Signed by the Tennessee Titans

Kicker Blake Haubeil was being mocked in sixth round leading up to the draft. Haubeil is a big kicker with an even bigger leg, but one would think NFL scouts were not too impressed with how he bounced back from injuries last season.

Drue Chrisman, Punter

Signed by the Cincinnati Bengals

There’s no doubt that Chrisman is one of the best punters available, but it’s a rare thing to have a punter selected in the NFL draft. He’ll still get his chance to make a mark in Cincinnati by flipping bottles, and the field of play with his big leg and ability to pin opponents deep.

Jake Haussman, Tight End

Signed by the Detroit Lions

Haussman didn’t get as many opportunities as a tight end as Jeremy Ruckert and Luke Farrell, but he was still known to be a very good blocker, and that was his ticket to being signed by the Detroit Lions. He’ll join Jeff Okudah, Jonah Jackson, Jason Cornell, and Taylor Decker on the roster for now. Now it’s up to him to make an impact and remain there.

Signed by the Philadelphia Eagles

Trevon Grimes was a former highly regarded recruit that failed to see the field for the Buckeyes. After transferring to Florida, he enjoyed some success. Grimes was viewed as a sixth- or seventh-round prospect, but it is surprising no one took a shot on him as he broke out last season and has big play ability.

Brendon White, Safety

Signed by the New York Jets

Brendon White is another player on this list who transferred out. The son of Buckeye legend William White, Brendon was the 2019 Rose Bowl MVP as the Bullet, but as that position was phased out so was he, and he found greener pastures at Rutgers. White is a unique athlete, but more of a linebacker/safety tweener.
