The 2022 Winter Olympic Games have concluded, and one country far and away dominated the medals race.
Norway not only snagged the most gold medals this Games, but sits atop of the total medal count. The Scandinavian country won 16 gold medals, eight silver medals and 13 bronze. Coming in second in the total count was the Russian Olympic Committee, with 32, and third was Germany, with 27 medals.
The United States ultimately came in fourth place in the total race, with 25 medals, broken down into eight gold, 10 silver, and seven bronze.
In total this year, the 15 Winter Olympics sports included 109 medal events.
The Beijing Olympics medals presented to athletes included, as is traditional, the five rings and the name of the Games in English. On the back, the Games' name was repeated in Chinese. The front of the medals also featured two rings with patterns designed to show snow and ice, USA Today reported.
In the last Olympic Winter Games, in PyeongChang 2018, the United States also came in fourth in the total medal count, with 23 medals — nine of which were gold. Norway and Germany were tied for gold medals at 14, but the Scandanavian country pulled ahead with a total of 39 medals.
The Beijing Winter Games medal count can be seen in the above graphic, which shows the medals every country picked up during these Games.
The graphic was updated each day with new totals, and countries shuffled places if their medal count increased.
