The Packers got their receiver.

After trading up to the second round to No. 34, the Packers drafted North Dakota State's Christian Watson.

Green Bay sent both of its second-round picks (No. 53 and 59) to Minnesota to move up 19 spots.

The 6-foot-4, 208-pound receiver wowed scouts at the NFL Scouting Combine when he registered a 4.36 time in the 40-yard dash with a 38½-inch vertical.

Watson averaged 20.4 yards per reception on 105 career catches for 2,140 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was responsible for a 20-plus yard gain 57 times in 180 total touches (rushes, receptions, returns) over his four-year career, or one of every three times he had the ball.

A multiple-time FCS national champion, Watson was named second-team FCS All-America by the Associated Press at receiver in 2021, following first-team honors as a kick returner in 2020, when he brought back two kickoffs for TDs.

After losing Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling this offseason, the Packers welcome Watson to a receiver room that boasts Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, Sammy Watkins and 2021 third-round pick Amari Rodgers.

Watson's father, Tim, was a Packers draft pick back in 1993.

Watson's selection came after the Packers drafted Georgia linebacker Quay Walker at No. 22 and defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt at 28 on Thursday night.
