The Detroit Lions have been busy these last couple of years as the front office continues adding youth to the team. With a handful of exciting prospects in Detroit, this franchise should build up momentum in the coming years to become a playoff contender. It will take some work from everyone, as this organization has a long way to go. For that reason, we take a look at one undrafted free agent who will make the Lions' 2022 roster.

There is a ton of youth on this team right now which allows the coaching staff to find as many hidden gems as possible. It's tough for any undrafted free agent to make the final roster. However, considering the Lions have so many prospects right now, a surprise prospect could earn a role for Detroit in the upcoming season.

Detroit signed six free agents after the draft, five of which are on the offensive side of the ball. Even so, the loan defender who the front office acquired has a better chance of making the team. It'll be difficult, but it is not impossible. As long as this rookie shines throughout training camp, the Lions will have to consider keeping him for the entire season.

With that said, here is our undrafted free agent who will make the Lions' 2022 roster.

Lions Undrafted Free Agent To Make 2022 Roster

Demetrius Taylor

The Appalachian State prospect hopes to make the final roster entering the season. He has plenty of experience and plays a position Detroit could use some help with. Having a stout defensive line helps the defense control the trenches and that's exactly what Demetrius Taylor can do for the Lions.

Taylor spent five years at Appalachian State totaling 137 tackles (46 for a loss), 26.5 sacks, and six forced fumbles. He proved to be a wrecking ball in the Sun Belt conference throughout his collegiate career, making him an interesting prospect for the Lions. The real reason Demetrius Taylor went undrafted is due to his size, as he is just 6'1″ and 290 pounds, per College Football Reference.

His size, or lack thereof, could be a problem at the professional level. Regardless, the kid plays hard and has the kneecap-biting mentality Dan Campbell is looking for. If anything, this kid is going to bring the tenacity and challenge Jashon Cornell and John Penisini for the nose tackle position. If that's the case, then Demetrius Taylor could wow the coaching staff and earn a spot on the Lions' 2022 roster.

Detroit has a solid base defense right now on paper. Of course, a handful of players are still developing. Demetrius Taylor is in the perfect situation to succeed, as the Lions could use all of the help they can get within the front seven. It'll be interesting to see how training camp plays out, as Taylor could turn some heads with his high motor.

With that in mind, keep a close eye on Demetrius Taylor for now. Although he has an uphill battle to make the Lions' final roster, he could prove to be a valuable rotational player to start his career. Michael Brockers and Alim McNeil will likely be the staters for the interior defensive line but Taylor has a chance to earn a role as a solid backup in his rookie year.
