The big weekend is here with many hanging out their Union Jacks and celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee with friends and family. Meanwhile, some people see the four-day weekend as an opportunity to run errands they've been meaning to do for a while.

The small break will be over before we know it, especially with everyone having a jolly great time. For some, this may seem like the perfect time to go to the post office to send off that present to your cousin abroad you've been delaying.

However, some services may be closed or restricted during the bank holidays as everyone wants the chance to have a good time. There are post offices across Reading and the rest of Berkshire - but will they be open?

The Post Office has posted the following advice on its website: "Branch opening times may differ this Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday. Please check with your local branch in store or on their social media pages for updated opening times." If your nearest Post Office doesn't have a social media page, there is no harm phoning in advance so you don't waste a journey.

While each Post Office in Reading and Berkshire display different opening times, one thing we know for certain is that Royal Mail have confirmed when its services will be closed. Collections or deliveries will not be running on Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3 for the bank holiday.

Normal services will resume after the bank holidays, but if you are still in doubt, phone up and check with your closest branch. There are Post Office's in Berkshire's key towns including Reading, Windsor, Bracknell, Maidenhead and Wokingham.
