Car buying in 2022

US Sale

I’m looking to buy a new car this summer, I just graduated college and I can’t borrow my roommates one anymore. I plan on getting one that I can depend on and use for years to come. What’s the best way of doing this these days? I’ve seen online services like vroom, and I’m sure the manufacturers all have electronic systems that make it easier to buy these days. I’m just not super familiar with what the best thing to do is.

I’m more looking for advice on how to buy a car than what car to buy, but I’m prioritizing fuel economy, cargo space, and all weather capability (like a rav4 hybrid or something) in that order, in case it matters

I did already make this post in r/cars, but I though this might be a better place?
