Who's returning to The Young And The Restless?

Malcolm Winters

Shemar Moore is making his big Genoa City comeback for the 50th anniversary of The Young and The Restless.

The actor starred on the show from 1994 to 2005 as the fan favorite Malcolm Winters. In his comeback episode, he is set to reunite with his daughter Lily (Christel Khalil), as well as nephew Devon (Bryton James), and stepson Nate (Sean Dominic).

This is the second time that Moore is reprising his role in Y&R. In 2019, following the death of Kristoff St. John, who played the character Neil Winters, he appeared on the show for a handful of episodes to honor his late co-star.

It's been a while since her character appeared on the show, but actress Reylynn Caster teased that this time around, viewers are in for a treat.

"Surprise! So happy to be back <3 you guys are not ready for what is to come," she wrote in a tweet.

J.T. Hellstrom

In April 2023, it was revealed that Thad Luckinbill is returning to The Young and The Restless as J.T. Hellstrom for a one-off appearance.

However, his scene is only via a video call with Elena, played by Brytni Sapni.

Whether or not he will make a return on a more permanent capacity remains to be seen.

Lucy Romalotti

Lucy Romalotti was first introduced to Y&R in 2011 as the daughter of Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) and Daisy Carter (Yvonne Zima). At the time, her character was played by a set of triplets.

It wasn't until 2023 that Lucy returned to Genoa City all grown up and played by young actress Lily Brooks O'Briant.

According to reports, she's only set to appear for a handful of episodes until she's set to return to Portugal. But she's expected to return again in a matter of weeks.

Harmony Hamilton

After nearly two decades, Chene Wilson made a splash on Y&R after reprising her role as Harmony Hamilton, the biological mother of Devon Hamilton, played by Bryton James.

Her return coincides with the comeback of Shemar Moore's Malcolm Winters.

In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, James expressed his excitement over the return of his on-screen mom: "It was like stepping into a time machine, because even after 18 years, Chene looks exactly the same as she did in the last scenes we filmed.

"And she was just as brilliant in front of the camera. It was one of those amazing moments on stage when you truly don’t have to act, you just look at each other, and all of the history and love comes right to the surface.

"It was really a full-circle experience for myself and Devon that I couldn’t be more grateful for."

Who is leaving Y&R?

Cameron Kirsten

At long last, after years of wreaking havoc in The Young and The Restless, Cameron Kirsten has met his demise.

Linden Ashby, the actor who played the character, told Soap Opera Digest that he has been tapped to make a comeback multiple times in the past, and finally relented under one condition: “‘Hey, man, let’s write him bad,'" he told executive producer Josh Griffith.

“I’m not looking for a redemptive story here. I’m not looking for to turn over a new leaf," he added. "I’ve got a few scores to settle and business to take care of.”

Jeremy Stark

In March 2023, James Hyde teased his The Young and The Restless exit as Jeremy Stark. "In life you have to be ready for what's next!!!" he wrote in an Instagram post. "I'm ready let's go!! #nothinglastsforever"

His character indeed ended up leaving the show in a shocking twist, but fans can still hold on to hope that he'll return in the future.

“I loved the character. It’s unfortunate the way it happened, but that’s the way it goes," he shared on Instagram Live.

"We're doing a soap, so you never know... Did you see me wrapped in that sheet? No! No one saw me wrapped in that sheet!"

Amanda Sinclair

Mishael Morgan is no longer a regular on The Young and The Restless as Amanda, but made it clear in an Instagram Story that it was her decision.

“I just wrapped for my last scenes back,” she began an Instagram story taped backstage, “and I just wanted to let the cat out of the bag a little bit.”

“I wanted to take a bit of a step back from the show,” she noted, adding that she wanted to explore other acting opportunities.

“I just felt like at this point in my life and this point in my career, I wanted to mix things up a little bit.”
